Kings XI Punjab were the first team to seal their place in the playoffs. The Delhi Daredevils are dead and buried in the competition, so there will be little at stake when the two teams clash at Mohali on Sunday.

Kings XI Punjab has been the most successful team in IPL 7 while Delhi Daredevils are placed at the bottom of the table and the team’s body language is such that one gets the feeling that they have already given up on the hopes of achieving even a single victory. The match on Sunday will be the last league game for both the teams and the faith of both these teams have already been decided. Punjab on one hand is set to face Kolkata in the first qualifier to the finals while Delhi was knocked out of the tournament long back.
Punjab has been literally disrespectful to the bowling of any team that has come in their way. It’s a battle between the top and the bottom team and the result is almost inevitable in the favor of the Kings XI unless there is a huge miracle in the favor of the Daredevils.
Kings XI Punjab
X factor: The batting has been almost immortal in the tournament for the team. They have some of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball that the world has seen in their ranks and if the opposition team somehow manages to get par these batsmen, the young and upcoming stars of the teams get the better of them. The way Wriddhiman Saha and Manan Vohra dealt with the pace and swing of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Dale Steyn in the game against the Sunrisers and the way Manan Vohra dealt with the bowling of Delhi in their last encounter gives the team a hope that all will be well even if their top batsman fail to do the job once or twice.
Watch out for: Virendra Sehwag, George Bailey
Virendra Sehwag has been one of those players for the kings who have quietly done their job without getting too much of a notice from the world. He has always delivered at the start of the innings and it’s no surprise that he is the third highest run getter for the team after Maxwell and Miller. He has regularly scored those quick 30’s and 40’s at the top of the order and its only time that he delivers in the manner that people expect him to deliver. George Bailey has not only led the side well, but he has also played the role of the finisher to perfection. He seemed to struggle for the start of the start of the innings against the Sunrisers, but he finished the job for them hitting Dale Steyn for no less than 20 runs in an over.
Weak point: The bowling of the team seems to be weak again. Given the fact that Delhi’s batting is much stronger than their performance this season, they shouldn’t be taking them lightly. Also Glenn Maxwell and David Miller have not been at their explosive best recently and hence would like to regain that golden touch.
Delhi Daredevils
X Factor: It’s very tough to find a strong point for the Daredevils except the performance of JP Duminy. JP has been the only consistent performer for the Daredevils and the couple of games that they managed to win were also because of his heroics. He nearly took the game against the Mumbai Indians for them and the Daredevils will be expecting him to deliver once again.
Watch out for: JP Duminy, Kevin Pietersen.
As said before, Duminy has been one of the only shining stars for the Daredevils this season. He is their highest scorer and he has the most number of match winning innings for them, (not that there are many). Kevin Pietersen on the other hand has been looking in good touch recently and it’s about time that he give the people one good look at his ability before he says bye until the next year,
Weak point: Nothing good can be said about them at the moment. It’s said that there’s no bigger loser than the person who has lost hope and the same can be said about the Daredevils. Their captain itself doesn’t seem to mind the defeats that the team has been suffering and as said before, they need to put up some sort of magical performance to overcome the heavy odds that has been placed against them.
